Whether someone owns a golden retriever, a boxer, a pug or a doberman, it is important that they be prepared for whatever kind of dog health problems could await them down the road.

Certain larger dogs are prone to bloat, which is essentially a twisted stomach. When this happens, the dogs long, hanging stomach twists, which causes a severely bloated chest and stomach cavity. It can be immensely painful and fatal if it is not treated quickly. These kind of dog health problems typically occur in large dogs, like Great Danes.

Certain dogs, like Basset Hounds, are especially prone to other painful and costly conditions, like urinary tract infections and Addisons disease. Sometimes these dogs will get sick more than once a year, racking up huge vet bills for their owners. By feeding their pets a proper diet, these kind of dog health problems can be avoided, or at least substantially minimized.

Bull dogs are prone to numerous kinds of breathing problems and hip problems. Some of these will require a good diet and exercise, while others will need medication or surgery in order to correct. Most dog owners love their pets and would do anything to protect them. By properly educating oneself about the potential dog health problems that their favorite breed may be prone to, one could have a chance to prepare themselves when and if a problem arises.
